A British woman who was found dead in her hotel room was killed in a “sex game gone wrong,” her boyfriend has claimed to police.
Anna Florence Reed, 22, was found unresponsive in the bathroom of the room she was sharing with her German boyfriend.
Swiss newspaper Il Giornale del Ticino reports the young Brit was found at 7am on Tuesday after shouting was heard coming from her room during the night.
The couple arrived at the Ramada La Palma au Lac in Locarno on Monday where rooms cost from £200 per night.
Guests at the hotel alerted staff after they reportedly heard shouting and screams, Le Matin reports.
Paramedics rushed to the hotel but were unable to revive her and she was declared dead at the scene.
Corriere del Ticino reports her boyfriend, 29, who was not yet been named, was arrested and claimed to police she died during a sex game.
A post-mortem was carried out and determined Anna died from suffocation or asphyxiation.
She also had small fractures and cuts on her body, according to local media reports.
Prosecutor Petra Canonica Alexakis told Corriere del Ticino that investigators are considering a charge of murder or culpable homicide.
Swiss police said in a statement: “A 29-year-old German man has been arrested and a file has been sent to the local prosecutor with an allegation of pre-intentional homicide.”
